The great poet Seferis would say that when we cut a piece from the past, we also cut a piece from the future at the same time. Our ignorance and -even worse- vague perception of our past, frightens and obscures the path to the future.
For our great ancestors, poetry was a form of daily exercise and entertainment. Over the centuries and after numerous upheavals, our place has given birth to extraordinary and revealing creators. Our intention is to remember them. We carry them within us anyway, since our language and all its variants bind us tightly. Through the music of great composers, we will come to realise that poetry is words whispered in the ears of kind people, as Engonopoulos used to say. It is the dearest version of our homeland.
