SUMMER AT THE CONCERT HALL

ANDREAS BOUTSIKAKIS – GINA FOTINOPOULOU: AND ALL THAT GREEK JAZZY SUMMER

Organizer: THESSALONIKI CONCERT HALL
With a summer vibe and mood, composer and pianist Andreas Boutsikakis and singer Gina Fotinopoulou curate and present a musical programme dedicated to the work of pioneering  Greek jazz composers.
Boutsikakis’ imaginative musical connections highlight the influence of American jazz on Greek musical creation from the early 1920s to the 1970s: Giannis Spartakos, Kostas Giannidis, Mimis Plessas, Kostas Kapnisis, Giorgos Mouzakis among others meet Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Michel Legrand, and many more.
Timeless melodies and iconic songs, once beloved in dance halls and elegant entertainment venues, and shaped by the glamour of revue theatre and the magic of Greek cinema, are brought to life through the expressive voice of Gina Fotinopoulou, who also writes the texts of the performance.
Joining them on this musical journey through the golden age of Greek jazz are actor Andreas Konstantinidis as a compere, along with musicians Dimitris Papanikos on double bass and Bledi Telha on guitars.
We look forward to singing, remembering, and—why not—letting loose and dancing together!
