COMPOSITION COMPETITION AND CONCERT / COMPOSITION WORKSHOP

Organizer: THESSALONIKI CONCERT HALL IN COLLABORATION WITH THE SUMMER MUSIC PERFORMANCE PROGRAM AT ACT / A DIVISION OF ANATOLIA COLLEGE & BISSELL LIBRARY
The Composition Competition and Concert / Composition Workshop is organized in collaboration with the Summer Music Performance Program at ACT / A Division of Anatolia College. The programme offers talented young composition students from around the world the opportunity to compose a work for orchestra or chamber ensemble while working closely with distinguished instructors and the orchestra’s conductor, who will mentor them during the creative process and support them in bringing their compositions to completion. Throughout the program, participants will engage in discussions and analytical sessions exploring key aspects of creative thinking, including the organization of pitch material, methods for processing and expanding music ideas, the structure of sound masses, the organization and management of timbre and the application of instrumental techniques.
The completed works will be presented in concert on Monday 29 June by the MOYSA – Megaro Youth Symphony Orchestra. The evening will conclude with the presentation of the three composition awards.
