American jazz bassist and composer Mike Parker makes a stop in Thessaloniki as part of his European tour with his trio, offering the city’s audience an evening of outstanding jazz.
Parker began his musical career at the age of seventeen, performing in New York jazz clubs. Since then, he has toured widely across Europe and the United States and released four albums of his own compositions, while for many years he has been based in Kraków.
Combining post-bop, indie rock, hip-hop, avant-garde and classical influences, his music has been described as “an ingenious synthesis of all musical genres ... It is all that jazz should be: original, fresh, unpredictable, symbiotic in group improvisation, and all that with a sense of humor.”
In the Mike Parker Trio, he is joined by Marcin Kaletka on alto saxophone and Max Olszewski on drums. Their repertoire consists mainly of Parker’s original works, along with compositions by artists he particularly admires.
