AUTHORS OF THE WORLD TRAVEL TO THE CONCERT HALL: IIDA TURPEINEN

Organizer: THESSALONIKI CONCERT HALL
Balancing scientific reflection with literary sensitivity, Finnish historian of science and author Iida Turpeinen explores the relationship between humans and nature through the lens of the history of science. In her award-winning novel Beasts of the Sea, already translated into 28 languages, she offers a compelling narrative while raising thought-provoking questions about humanity’s place in the natural world—drawing on the true story of the extinction of a marine mammal caused by human activity. These questions, as well as the influence of scientific thought on literature, will form the basis of a discussion with Iida Turpeinen, joined by writer Katerina Malakate and Athanasios Tsikliras, Professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

The event will be interpreted into Greek and Greek Sign Language.
