A musical circumnavigation which captures the wealth, diversity and timelessness of the culture of the Euxine Sea, combined with a contemporary artistic approach, aiming to highlight the creative and unifying power of music in contemporary times. A journey of sounds, words and images that covers the entire spectrum of Pontic music, ranging from epic poetry and folk songs to modern creations and arrangements curated by the participating group of musicians. With the year 1922 serving as a milestone, upon the completion of the 100 years since the Asia Minor Catastrophe and on the occasion of the Remembrance Day of the Genocide of Pontic Hellenism, this event comes to reinforce the idea that music is not only the connecting link that unites peoples, homelands and religions, but also the process of reconciliation and coexistence of the past and the present, looking towards the future with optimism. The band Leftokaria joins forces with notable musicians, in collaboration with the Department of Music Science and Art (DMSA) of UoM and the Chair of Pontic Studies of the Department of History and Archaeology of AUTh.
