Manos Hadjidakis was a great lover of cinema and cinematic music, even from his youth. The work Sweet Suite by his close collaborator Nikos Kipourgos, is dedicated to the great musician and is a wonderful mosaic of melodies based on the themes of the unforgettable Manos from 9 well known films.
The T.S.S.O. recorded in 2009, with Myronas Michailidis conducting, the Sweet Suite, as well as the work Film Suite No 1, also by Nikos Kypourgos, and in December 2015 Minos EMI put these two works out on an especially interesting CD. The concert programme will close with the works of two emblematic Italian composers, Nino Rota and Ennio Morricone, which will bring to life in the minds of the audience characteristic scenes from beloved films, such as La Strada, The Godfather, La Dolce Vita, Nuovo Cinema Paradiso, and The Untouchables.
