Petros Klampanis is a bassist, composer and producer based in New York and Athens. His work is defined by a unique sound that blends jazz with Mediterranean traditions and classical influences. With an emphasis on improvisation, expressiveness and innovation, he creates music inspired by personal experiences and social themes presenting contemporary jazz in dialogue with the wider world music scene.
He has released seven solo albums:Contextual (2011),Minor Dispute (2015),Chroma (2017), awarded "Best Live Album" at the Independent Music Awards,Irrationalities (2019), winner of three Independent Music Awards (Best Jazz Album, Best Jazz Instrumental Track, Best Jazz Producer),Rooftop Stories (2021),Tora Collective (2023), the German Record Critics' Award (Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik) in the Ethnic Music category, Latent Info (2025), nominated for the same award in the World Music category.
In 2020, he founded the independent record label PKmusik, dedicated to promoting and producing high-quality music with a unique artistic identity and vision. PKmusik focuses on shaping a global musical landscape that transcends borders and fosters meaningful connections through the power of music.
Alongside his recording career, Klampanis he has performed at major festivals and venues worldwide- as a bandleader and as a member of various projects- including Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Barbican in London, the Glastonbury Festival and the North Sea Jazz Festival He is also active as an educator, teaching at universities and conservatories, with a focus on composition and improvisation, and is constantly seeking new musical forms that encourage dialogue between different traditions.
