Arta Arnicane

The young Latvian pianist Arta Arnicane is a passionate soloist and chamber musician living in Switzerland. Born into a musical family, she started studying piano from an early age, won her first international award at the age of eleven (Ibla Grand Prix, Italy). This was followed by performances with an orchestra and solo recitals.
Her musical talent has been encouraged with several major scholarships, allowing her to graduate with the degree of Master of Music from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (2004), Latvian Academy of Music (2008) and Zurich University of the Arts (2010), where she is currently continuing her studies under the tutelage of the distinguished pianist and Professor Homero Francesch.
Recently Arta celebrated great success, winning the top prizes at three major international competitions: 1st Sussex International Piano Competition, Baltic International Piano Competition and Valencia International Piano Competition “Premio Iturbi”.  In the 2011/2012 season Arta’s concert engagements include tours of Great Britain and Spain, as well as appearances with orchestras such as the Worthing Symphony Orchestra and the Akademisches Orchester Zürich.
Despite having a busy schedule, Arta finds time to study conducting and fortepiano, and is learning piano tuning.  She is also a keen landscape photographer and enjoys fencing!
