Three musicians, with studies in jazz and musical wanderings abroad, return to their city, Thessaloniki, to engage in a fruitful dialogue with its special sounds and history. A multicultural story, just like the Yako Trio themselves, who interact with different music and cultures, breaking down the boundaries between music genres.
Inspired by the work of Giannis Konstantinidis and his adaptations of familiar melodies and rhythms of Greek traditional music, the three musicians approach Greek traditional songs in a new, dynamic and creative way. They combine traditional idioms and classical harmonies with elements of modern jazz and improvisations. They adapt the work of Konstantinidis and re-introduce it to the public, through their own sounds and experiences, presenting original compositions with a distinctive ethnic-jazz style.
