The Parallel Quintet was founded in Thessaloniki in 2015 by Jiannis Pavlidis (electric guitar), Efthimis Tsakiris (alto sax), Leandros Pasias (piano), Agamemnon Mardas (double bass) and Giorgos Klountzos-Chrysidis (drums). The Quintet’s music covers modern jazz and ethnic harmonies and is clearly influenced by the Avishai Cohen Trio, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Aaron Parks, Dave Holland and Chris Potter.
The programme includes pieces from reknown guitarist Jiannis Pavlidis’ two solo albums, Forever Lost and Μigration, songs from Leandros Pasias’ solo album It’s Time to Go, as well as some of the Quintet’s new songs.
