Bassoon
He is one of the most prominent bassoonists of his generation having given recitals in the biggest concert halls of Europe such as the Amphitheater of the Philharmonie in Paris, The Elgar Room of the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Kleine Zaal of Concertgebouw Amsterdam and Konzerthaus Berlin.
He was awarded three times the 1st Prize at the “Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition” during 2019, in Paris, London and Amsterdam, 2nd Prize at the “North International Music Competition” in 2018 Sweden, the “Horlait-Dapsens Award 2018” in Belgium, and he was named “Ambassador of the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel” in 2018.
He has appeared as a soloist with the Koninklijke Muziekkapel van de Gidsen, Orchestre de Nivelles, Antwerpen Camerata a.o. and is often engaged in renowned festivals such Festival Radio France Occitanie Montepellier.
Next to his performances, Mavroudes Troullos teaches bassoon and chamber music at the Gemeentlijke Academie voor Muziek, Woord en Dans Sint-Pieters Woluwe Brussels since 2018 and he is a PhD Researcher in the Arts at the LUCA School of Arts. Many great composers have dedicated works to him such as Philippe Hersant.
His discography includes world premiere recordings with music by Luigi Concone and Anna Segal together with harpist Rachel Talitman on Harp&Co.
Born in Nicosia, Cyprus, in 1992 into a family of musicians, Troullos started playing the bassoon at the age of thirteen and was only eighteen when he had his first solo concerto performance playing the Virtuoso concerto for bassoon and orchestra by C.M. von Webber. Later on, he studied in Athens, Leipzig and Brussels.
Mavroudes Troullos’ recital partners are Lily Maisky – piano and Roberta Brambilla – harp.
