Severin Neubauer

Saxophone
He was born in Vienna in 1998 into a musical family. At the age of 8 he began to learn to play the saxophone; S.N. learned at the Johann Sebastian Bach Music School Vienna (JSBM) and since 2015 he has been a student at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, in the class of Barbara Strack-Hanisch. Since 2017 he is a student of Gerald Preinfalk at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (KUG).
Since 2022 S.N. studies Jazz and Improvised Music with Fabian Rucker at the University for Music, Performing Arts and Dance in Linz. Severin Neubauer has performed numerous solo concerts accompanied by: „Rondo Solisti“, “Young Master Players”, the Franz Schmidt Chamber Orchestra etc., in numerous countries (USA, Greece, Slovenia, Thailand etc).
Severin Neubauer is very active in chamber music, therefore he is a member of several ensembles: Trio SMS, SPECTRUM saxophone quartet, Duo-Neubauer; and regularly invited by many contemporary ensembles: Ensemble Wiener Collage, Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Platybus etc.
Neubauer is multiple 1st prize winner of “Prima la Musica” at state and federal level. In 2021 he won the 2nd price of the Varazdin Woodwind and Brass Competition Grand Prix. Neubauer gained orchestral experience in the Vienna State Opera Orchestra and the Vienna Volksoper Orchestra.
In 2020, he recorded the debut CD Take it East with the Trio SMS, on which he acts both as a musician and as a composer. In March 2022 his second CD on which Severin is also featured as a musician and composer was released by the prestigious Viennese Label Gramola.
From early of 2022 he is a member of the Vienna Saxophones and collaborates with the well-known saxophone soloist Theodore Kerkezos.
