Helena Buckie

Helena Buckie began playing the violin at the age of 3 learning through the Suzuki method in Cambridge and subsequently went on to attend the Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama. In 2010 Helena began her degree at the Royal College of Music where she studied with Levon Chilingirian and Berent Korfker and enjoyed a busy schedule of chamber music, solo recitals and master classes with violinists such as Leonid Kerbel and Peter Schumayer. She graduated from the RCM in July 2014 with first class honours. Now in her second year as a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra, Helena tours internationally working with conductors such as Vladimir Ashkenazy and Krystof Urbanski and performs in prestigious venues across the world such as the Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Berlin Konzerthaus and the Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi. Helena currently lives in London and works frequently with orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, English National Ballet, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. She also enjoys performing with her chamber group, the Laurent Quartet, who are currently artists on the Live Music Now scheme. Helena has received a scholarship from the RCM and funding from the Stephen Bell Charitable Trust and the Maimie and Ruth Waddell Prize for a postgraduate degree at the RCM.
