Born in 1989 in Seoul, Korea, SunMi Han started her piano study at the age of six. She gave her first recital at the age of 13 for The Kumho Prodigy Series in Soul, Korea. Since then, she has performed with Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra and North Czech Phiharmonic Orchestra as a soloist and at KumHo Art Hall, Harris Concert Hall at Aspen Music Festival, and Suntory Hall as a recitalist. She was also invited to Istanbul in Turkey and Waterloo in Belgium, and performed as a solo pianist. She has won numerous piano competitions including Samick Bechstein piano competition, Eum Ak Chun Chu competition, Eum Yeon piano competition, teen-ager piano competition, and Kuk Min Hansei University piano competition in Korea. She also has won second prize at LISMA International Piano competition and EPTA International Piano competition. She is at The Juilliard School, studying with Yoheved Kaplinsky.
