Syrinx

The "SYRINX" wood-wind trio was created in 1982, after the three members graduated from the "Ciprian Porumbescu" Academy of Music in Bucharest as students of professors Virgil Opritoiu and Virgil Francu (flute), Pavel Tomea and Radu Chisu (oboe), Gheorghe Ciavici and Gheorghe Cuciureanu (bassoon), and Francisc Laszlo (chamber music). That year they became members of Bacau Symphony Orchestra.
The activity of the "SYRINX" trio is well known in Romania, as well as in other European countries. Within a short period of activity, the ensemble has demonstrated technical accuracy combined with excellent musicality and was rewarded no less than six international prizes in chamber music competitions:
             1983: 1st. prize in the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfodd -Great Britain
             1984: Finalist in the international contest "Premio Ancona" (Italy)
             1985: 1st. absolute prize in the international Contest Stresa (Italy)
             1985: 2nd prize in the international contest "Premio Ancona" (Italy)
             1986: Prize of the musical critics in Romania
             1987: 3rd prize in the international contest "Martigny" (Switzerland)
             1988: 1st. absolute prize in the international contest "Capri" (Italy)
             1989: Special prize of the jury in the international competition in Tokyo (Japan).
In the years 1985, 1987 and 1989 the group also won the first prize in the national festival "Song of Romania". As a result of general appreciation the "SYRINX" trio was invited to record for the B.B.C. studios, for the Romanian Radiotelevision and to collaborate with Electrecord Bucharest and Edi-Pan Italy for a number of recordings. The ensemble has given concerts both in Romania and abroad, enjoying great success and gaining the audience's (Italy, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Great Britain, Japan, Greece, Russia) respect and appreciation due to the fine accuracy and precision of their performance. The trio attended master classes in preclassical music with Antonio Bacchelli, Arturo Sachetti in Italy and in contemporary music with Pierre Yves Artaud in Darmstadt, Germany.
The repertoire of the "SYRINX" wood-wind trio is very wide and includes a large variety of musical masterpieces.
