Yoon Soo Rhee

Praised by critics having “… lots of delicacy and atmosphere… controlling the music in independent layers”, Irish Times, Ireland, “…the ability to make an orchestra sound on the piano”, ABC Radio, Sydney, and as being “…a very intelligent pianist…”, YLE Radio Finland, Yoon Soo Rhee gave her debut recital at the age of twelve in Seoul, Korea. She has since performed throughout Europe and America. Other appearances include solo recitals in Germany, France, Italy, Spain,U.S.A throughout Asia.
Ms. Rhee has also performed as soloist with several orchestras including the Seoul National Philharmonic Orchestra, the Prague Symphony Orchestra and the Zillion Symphony Orchestra, among others. She also established herself as a chamber musician performing in Piano-quartets and in the Duo with a Cellist in Austria and in Korea. Ms. Rhee also appeared as a Soloist at such festivals as Moselfest, Germany, Bowdoin Music Festival, Shandelee Music Festival U.S.A and Millennium Music Festival, Spain.
Winner of the 2010 Rhodes International Competition (Greece), Ms. RHEE is a multiple winner of many other international competition such as First Prize in Ennio Porrino Piano Competition (Italy), First Prize in Brahms International Piano Competition (Austria), Second Prize in Johanna Hodges International piano competition(U.S.A), Third Prize in Jose Roca Piano Competition (Spain), First Prize in Boesendorfer Piano competition and First Prize in Dichler Music competition (Austria).
She was also the recipient of two special Prize in the Sydney International Piano Competition, Australia as well as the Foerderpreis from Steinwayhaus Berlin.
Ms. Rhee was awarded with the Art Prize given by the Mayor of Seoul as well as the Siemens Wiener Klassik Preis”.
Ms Rhee was born in Seoul, Korea and studied with Young-Ho Kim for nine years. She also studied with Young Hi Moon as well as with Hea jun Lee and Jinwo Jung.
From her young age she won Prizes in several major national competitions and was awarded with the ‘Yon-ho Art-Prize’, which is given to the best graduate of the Yewon Art school. After her graduation of the Yewon-Music school at the age of fifteen, she met Paul Badura-Skoda and on his recommendation, she moved to Vienna to study with Mr.Heinz Medjimorec at the University of Music and performing Art, where she completed her master-program and Artist’s Diploma with honors. Since 2006 she has lived in Berlin, Germany and studies in Artist’s Diploma program with Mr. Klaus Hellwig at the University of Art Berlin.Other musical impulse she received from great pianist of the time like Pascal Devoyon, Karl-Heinz Kaemmerling, Noel Flores, Erik Tawaststjerna, Paul Badura-Skoda, Christopher Elton, Solomon Mikoswki and Claude Frank.
