Born in Naousa in 1977, he started studying Flute at the “Estia Mousson” Conservatory of Naoussa, at the age of 9 years old. In 1995 Xanthopoulos is accepted to the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki, in the class of the professor N.Dimopoulos, while he attends music theory lessons (class of K. Zarimpa). At the same time, he also studies Percussion (class of A. Vasileiadi) and Byzantine Music (class of P. Papaemmanouel).
He holds a diploma in Percussion instruments and a degree in Flute, Fugue, Instrumentation and Byzantine Music.
He has attended seminars given by D. Weckl, D. Desylla, T. Milkov (percussion), I. Masusz, T. Wye, R. Brown, L. Kovacs, R. Davis, I. Macovei (flute), A. Mpalta, Th. Antoniou, E. Zacharopoulou (theory-composition), H. Taliadoro (byzantine music) etc.
He is one of the co-founders of the flamenco dance & music band “Caja Secreta”, and also “Jazz Mahal trio”. He collaborates as an occassional member with the Symphony Orchestra and the Municipal Band of Thessaloniki, the Symphony of Municipality of Kalamaria, the ancient greek instruments orchestra “Orpheus Harmony”, the band of Medieval music “Codex” etc.
