AUTHORS OF THE WORLD TRAVEL TO THE CONCERT HALL: DIDIER FASSIN

Organizer: THESSALONIKI CONCERT HALL
The successful event series “Authors of the World” returns, hosting authors who have earned the appreciation and love of readers.
On 8/6, we welcome one of the most important contemporary critical thinkers, the French sociologist Didier Fassin. A distinguished academic (Professor of Social Science at the Collège de France and at Princeton University, among other institutions), Fassin is the author of numerous works in sociology and anthropology, as well as a writer of fiction. He began his career as a practicing physician, gaining first-hand experience of the stark inequalities in access to healthcare while working in developing countries, and served as Vice-President of Doctors Without Borders from 1999 to 2003. An intellectual with a strong and public voice, he does not hesitate to challenge the xenophobia and racism that threaten social cohesion in European societies, frequently intervening in debates on migration and asylum, discrimination, social justice and law enforcement.
Joining Didier Fassin in conversation will be Professor Kleio Alexopoulou and Michalis Mavrogiannis, physician at the World Health Organization.

The event will be interpreted into Greek and Greek Sign Language.
