The outHEAR New Music Week 2026 festival for contemporary composition, now in its fifth edition, concludes this year’s activities with two concerts at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, fostering encounters between composers, performers and audiences in a field of live exchange and creative experimentation.
Thirty emerging composers from around the world and nine musicians from the internationally acclaimed Klangforum Wien Orchestra and from the Master’s programme in Performance Practice in Contemporary Music (PPCM) at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz invite the audience to experience the world premieres of works created exclusively for the event, featuring mixed instrumental combinations and the use of new technologies in sound.
On Sunday 19th April, in the Foyer of Building M2, the artists will present 18 new works for solo instrument, solo instrument with electronics, as well as — for the first time in Greece — works for piano automaton. On Tuesday 21st April, in the Emilios Riadis Hall, the programme includes 12 new works for mixed ensemble (mezzo-soprano, clarinet/bass clarinet, violin, viola, flute, trumpet/flugelhorn, trombone, percussion).
