AUTHORS OF THE WORLD TRAVEL TO THE CONCERT HALL: LILIA HASSAINE

Organizer: THESSALONIKI CONCERT HALL
French journalist and author of Algerian origin, Lilia Hassaine, in her novel Panorama, offers a strangely and painfully familiar vision of a future that may already have arrived. The narrative device she employs, set a few decades from now, is not an exaggeration but a projection: a world of glass in which lives are transparent, exposed and visible to everyone. This is not a foreign world, not Orwellian, not dystopian — it is the reality of millions of people on social media.
How easily does transparency turn into a mechanism of control? How far is the “protective gaze” of the neighbor from surveillance and spying? How did we willingly turn our lives into spectacle, commodity and an inexhaustible source of profit for tech giants? These are some of the questions that arise in a discussion that concerns us all. The author will be in conversation with journalist Panagiotis Menegos.

The event will be interpreted into Greek and Greek Sign Language.
