The French astrophysicist David Elbaz is many things: a specialist in the formation and evolution of galaxies, Research Director in the Astrophysics Division of the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission and scientific advisor to the European Space Agency. In short, he is a scientist and leading figure in his field who has received multiple awards for his scientific work.
However, what one might not expect is that the French astrophysicist David Elbaz is also a captivating storyteller, a raconteur of the Universe, a showman who enthralls the audiences that flock to his lectures. A gifted popularizer of science and author of two science novels, Elbaz transforms cosmological knowledge into philosophy with rare sensitivity, immediacy and wit, drawing on the materials of dark matter, dark energy, black holes – and light.
