2nd INTERNATIONAL CHOIR COMPETITION OF THE NATIONAL CONSERVATORY OF THESSALONIKI “TASOS PAPPAS”

Organizer: THESSALONIKI CONCERT HALL IN COLLABORATION WITH THE EDUCATION & CULTURE DEPARTMENT OF THE NATIONAL CONSERVATORY OF THESSALONIKI
The “Tasos Pappas” Choir Competition is dedicated to the memory of Tasos Pappas (1926-1970). The idea of the competition in his name was born after a concert-tribute to his work, organized in his hometown of Florina in December 2017 by the acclaimed pianist Domna Evnouchidou, his student at the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki.
Tasos Pappas dedicated his short life to the dissemination of the choral idea, making tireless efforts, both for the impeccable preparation of the choirs, and for the artistic and special harmonization of the voices. The few works he left behind due to his premature death are a sample of great compositional talent and at the same time offer material for later orchestrations. He died young, without having time to realize his great dream, the creation of a second Opera House based in Thessaloniki.
