MIKRES PERIPLANISEIS: VARYTITA (GRAVITY)

Their authentic folk music and distinctive songs feel like an osmotic exchange of aesthetics and perceptions among people who truly share companionship.
The ensemble consists of Nikos Arbilias, Manthos Arbelias and Christos Gamvrelis, who live permanently on the island of Kos, as well as Giannis Kolovos and Giannis Papastergiou, based in Thessaloniki.
Under the mentorship of Nikos Papazoglou, they recorded the albums Mikres Periplaniseis (1992), Agoni Grammi (1994), Imeres Apraxias (1996), Kleftes tou Chronou (2000) and Kai me Odigo mou ena Paidi (2006).
These were followed by Ta Astra pou Psichalizoun Fos (2012) and Varytita (Gravity, 2021) - an existential jolt,  as gravity keeps pulling you downward while you resist by looking upward...
