PROGRAMME
Part A
M. Moszkowski: Piano Concerto No. 2 in E major, Op. 59
(TSSO premiere)
Part B
P.I. Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 4 in F minor, Op. 36
Moritz Moszkowski was a German- Polish composer and pianist, about whom Ignacy Jan Paderewski said, "After Chopin, he best understands best how to write for the piano, and his writing embraces the whole gamut of piano technique".
The TSSO honors the 100th anniversary of his death with his romantic Piano Concerto No.2, performed by the renowned Romanian soloist Aurelia Visovan. The program is completed by Tchaikovsky's sweeping Symphony No.4, which explores the theme of Fate as a dark force that prevents happiness and allows only fleeting joys, urging us to face it by living each day with unstoppable vigor, as though there were no tomorrow.
