EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS: THROUGH THE TIME MACHINE
Organizer: THESSALONIKI CONCERT HALL
Music education program
The trio of Κlio Papadopoulou-Blonz, consisting of the renowned flutist Κlio Papadopoulou-Blonz, Rebecca Hepplewhite on violoncello and Grace Mo on piano, after dozens of music education concerts in schools all over the UK as part of the program Classical Music Rocks! comes to Thessaloniki Concert Hall. On Friday, 16 February, they will present the educational program “Through the Time Machine” for schools in northern Greece.
Join us on a journey into the music of the 18th and 19th centuries through fascinating stories about the composers and their works. We learn how technology, as we know it today, was absent at the time, and music was the main means of entertainment for people. More specifically, chamber music written for small ensembles used to entertain in the same way that television sets do in every home today...
We learn about classical and romantic composers such as Schumann, Gobert, Hummel and Enescu, but also about the composer Louise Farrenc, a pioneer of her time, who was the first woman in the field of composing and teaching music to claim and receive payment for her work!
A unique musical journey to past centuries for children from 4th to 9th grade.
The program will be presented in Greek.
