PART I
W. A. Mozart: Piano Sonata No. 14 in C minor, KV 457
L. v. Beethoven: Piano Sonata No. 24 in F sharp major, Op.78
PART II
J. Brahms: Piano Sonata No. 3 in F minor, Op.5
Three piano sonatas dedicated to three different women whom each of these major composers respectively loved at some point in his life. These women were Therese von Trattner, Mozart’s pupil and the muse behind his Piano Sonata ΚV 457 and Fantasia ΚV 475 (both in C minor), the Hungarian countess Therese von Brunsvick, Beethoven’s pupil and according to some researchers his immortal beloved, and Countess Ida von Hohenthal, née von Seherr-Thoss, who hosted Brahms for a brief period in the family tower of Count von Hohenthal and with whom Brahms fell passionately in love.
