LENIA ZAFIROPOULOU - ZOE ZENIODI: TO THE DISTANT BELOVED - THE SONGS OF LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEHN
Organizer: TCH
In honour of the 250th anniversary of the birth of Ludwig van Beethoven and on the occasion also of International Women’s Day, mezzo soprano Lenia Zafiropoulou and pianist Zoe Zeniodi perform the love songs of the great classical composer. Masterful and dynamic, melancholy but also playful, Beethoven’s songs balance in an unrivalled way between the bright and light-hearted amorous vision of rococo, yet are still filled with Arcadian, bucolic tones, and the deep, most existential passions of the new Romanticism. Beethoven's songs require skill, precision, expressive power and boldness from their performers, laying down the benchmark for all later composers of the art song.
