JAZZ AT THE CONCERT HALL
DIMITRIS VASSILAKIS' ATHENS QUINTET: JAZZ DEMOCRACY
T.C.H.
A unique concert/dialogue with the audience that demonstrates how jazz, which started out as an African American musical genre, has now become a universal language which has adopted the values of Democracy, originally conceived in Classical Greece. Jazz teaches us respect for dialogue and on-stage communication under equal terms, regardless of an artist’s name or popularity, and does not discriminate based on socio-economic-educational-cultural background, race or language.
The show will include pieces from Dimitris Vassilakis’s award-winning discography from historic Candid Records in London and New York, as well as famous jazz classics, in order to cover all aspects of jazz technique and outline the parameters of jazz democracy.
