The lyrical opera Norma was most recently staged in Thessaloniki in 2015 at Thessaloniki Concert Hall. It is one of the most monumental works in the lyrical repertoire and is particularly important for the Greek lyrical tradition due to the renowned embodiment of the lead part by Maria Callas and her performance of the aria ‘Casta Diva’. Today, with a soprano of the caliber of Jenny Drivala, who has been dubbed “the heir of Callas” by Italian audiences and critiques, Skull of Yorick Productions, in cooperation with FIX in art, is staging a period performance that will take the audience back in time, to the conflict between the Ancient Romans and the Gauls.
As is its custom, the company is choosing contributors from Northern Greece, to the extent possible, so as to showcase the workforce of the city and the country.
