The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands with the kind sponsoring of the Hellenic-Dutch Association, is organizing- already for some years- concerts performed by young talented musicians of the Princess Christina Concours Foundation.
The Princess Christina Concours maintains contact with all secondary schools in the Netherlands and reaches almost a million youngsters each year. As a result of this, hundreds of young musicians between the ages of 12-19 take part in the competition every year. Young talent is selected and rewarded with a wide range of educational prizes. Princess Christina Concours provides its laureates with the opportunity to gain stage experience and to perform at concerts.
The Princess Christina Competition is more than just a national music competition. It also assists young people to develop their talents and helps them find their way in the professional world of music should they wish to do so. Moreover, it helps young musicians in their choice of music and stimulates them to perform and compose music. The Princess Christina Competition is widely supported by local communities and the world of business.
A unique feature of the Foundation’s activities is the organization of concerts for laureates of the competitions, both in The Netherlands and abroad. Yearly, more than 200 of such concerts are taking place in various European countries.
Every autumn, for the last 10 years, a selected group of talented young Dutch musicians are invited to perform in Greece (concerts have been given at the Athens Concert Hall, Preveza, Ioannina, Volos and this year at Thessaloniki Concert Hall).
