BALLET FLAMENCO DE ANDALUCÍA: METÁFORA

TCH - ADaM PRODUCTIONS
Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía is the highest institutional representative of flamenco art which has served as flamenco ambassador since its inception 17 years ago. During this time the Ballet has become the best way to open new markets for flamenco; it has been on stages all over the world and has taken part in the cultural agendas of countries such as the United States, Argentina, Cuba, France, Italy, Hungary or Switzerland or international events like Aichi Exhibition in Japan.
The productions carried out during this time have reached some remote places but have also been present on the Andalusian stages. The Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía participated in four seasons of the series “Lorca y Granada en los Jardines del Generalife” with several productions based on works written by the poet from Granada which after that have toured the main national and international scenic spaces.
The 17-year history of the Ballet has been marked by different recognitions, not only by audience and critics but also by specialists of scenic arts. In so doing, the Ballet has received the National Choreography Prize for the production directed by María Pagés “El Perro Andaluz” and several choreographies by Cristina Hoyos during her period of director have been nominated for the Max Prizes of Theatre. Notable among these is “Yerma”, which received the Max Prize for the best feminine dance interpreter for Cristina Hoyos or “Romancero Gitano ” which was the most viewed show of 2006.
The company has been an inexhaustible source of talents from which some current outstanding dancers originated such as Israel Galván, Isabel Bayón, Rafael Campallo, Belén Maya, Rafaela Carrasco, Fernando Romero, Mercedes Ruiz and María José Franco among others.
All this has led the Ballet become a reference company with productions which have deeply impacted on national and international audiences and has boosted an increasing interest in jondo art throughout the world
