With a rare combination of poetic sensitivity and virtuosic brilliance, a young flutist Jae Young Kim is rapidly establishing herself as one of the most promising musicians of her generation. Her performances are marked by a deep musical intelligence, refined tone, and a natural affinity for expressive phrasing that captivates audiences and critics alike.
A prize-winner of numerous international competitions, Ms. Kim has been recognized across Europe, Asia, and Australia for the depth and distinction of her artistry. She has received First Prizes at the Boroondara Eisteddfod and the Margaret Sutherland Bursary Competition in Australia, as well as at the Seoul National University and Seoul Flute Association Competitions in South Korea. Internationally, she was awarded the Special Prize at the International French Flute Festival and was honored at the Tiziano Rossetti International Competition in Switzerland.
As a soloist, Ms. Kim has performed with the Chernivtsi Symphony Orchestra (Ukraine) and was awarded the prestigious Concerto Recording Prize at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music. She completed her Bachelor of Music with distinction at the University of Melbourne, where her studies were supported by the Orloff Family Charitable Trust Award and the Bebbington Prize.
Her artistic path is further enriched by appearances at leading festivals and academies. She has performed as guest flutist with Camerata Sol (South Korea) and has participated in renowned masterclasses such as the Forum Artium in Germany and the Wolfgang Sawallisch Stiftung Musikakademie. Currently, she continues her musical journey under the mentorship of Professor Robert Winn at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, where she is pursuing her Master of Music degree.
