Lucian Moraru
Viola
Lucian Moraru, born in Galati (Romania), began studying the violin at the age of five. After primary school, he left his hometown and went to Sibiu, where he continued his studies as a viola player under the direction of his new teacher Gavril Manciu. After school, he attended the music academy in Bucharest to further develop his art under the direction of Prof. Valeriu Pitulac and violinist Stefan Gheorghiu. From 1990 he took part in the masterclass courses for chamber music with Prof. Milan Scampa (Smetana Quartet) in Kercade (Holland) and with the Amadeus Quartet in London. In 2008 he finished his law studies at Nicolae Titulescu University in Bucharest. He began his musical career as a member of the Philharmonic Orchestra in Bucharest and performed simultaneously as a soloist under the baton of prominent conductors such as Sergiu Comissiona, Zoltán Peskó, Petre Zbircea, Mihai Brediceanu, Daisuke Soga, Horia Andreescu, Iosif Ion Pruner, Epifanio Comis, Romeo Râmbu, Matei Pop and many others. As a soloist he plays numerous recitals and concerts and always enchants the audience with his Italian instrument by the luthier Bruno Tondo. From 2001 Lucian Moraru became active as a freelance artist, like viola soloist and also, he appears in many chamber music projects. In addition to his solo and chamber music concerts, he convinces with his compositions and numerous arrangements for solo instruments with various accompaniments for chamber groups like violin and piano, flute and piano, PanFlute and piano, string quartet, string quintet or large orchestras. His musical arrangements, created specifically for famous soloists, are often recorded on CD's. These include well-known albums such as ``Love and Roses`` which was recorded by Adrian Petrescu /the first solo oboist of the George Enescu Philharmonic orchestra, "The Four Seasons" by Vivaldi, which was arranged for the famous pan flutist Gheorghe Zamfir who premiered in a 7 concert tour in Canada and recorded soon after in May 2006.
