The Greek pianist, Alexandros Sarakenides is one of the most promising young Greek pianists, having been characterized as an artist who combines “dynamism, skill and stylistic understanding”. In June 2015 he graduated from the LUCA Arts/Lemmensinstituut in Leuven obtaining a post-graduate soloist diploma with the highest distinction and honorary felicitations of the jury (summa cum laude), under the supervision of the renowned American concert-pianist Alan Weiss.
His artistic activity involves individual piano recitals at different places in Greece, Belgium, Austria, Netherlands, Luxemburg, and halls as the Brussels Royal Conservatoire, Megaron Hall of Athens, Palace of the Great Magister of Rhodes, Apollon Theater of Ermoupoli/Syros. He is frequently invited to participate in various national and international music festivals and concert series, such as Thessaloniki Piano Festival, International Aegina Music Festival, International Piraeus Sinfonia Festival, International classical music festival of Cyclades, Les Mercredis de la Musique asbl, Le Festival des Midis aux Minimes. He has collaborated with many orchestras, such as the State Orchestra of Thessaloniki, State Orchestra of Athens, Municipal Orchestra of Thessaloniki, Glasperlenspiel Sinfonietta, Mechels Orkest, Brussels Virtuosi, and renowned artists as the famous flutist Marc Grauwels and the pianist Alan Weiss.
Born in north-Greece, Alexandros Sarakenidis studied at the Thessaloniki State Conservatory with Igor Petrin and continued his studies at the University of Macedonia with the same teacher obtaining a bachelors’ degree with specialization – piano instrumental performance with exceptional grade. He has also studied next to famous artists as Sergio Tiempo, Naum Grubert, Andrei Pisarev, Milena Molova, Daniel Rivera, Lilia Boyadjieva, Michael Hauber, G. Hadjinikos, Dimitris Toufeksis, Sergei Osokins, Katerina and Yanna Polyzoidou. Scholar of the Academy of Athens, Alexandros Sarakenidis has been awarded in numerous national and international competitions.
