NINA SIMONE – FOUR OCTAVES OF FREEDOM

Organizer: THESSALONIKI CONCERT HALL
The musical theater performance Nina Simone – Four Octaves of Freedom, conceived and written by director Sotiris Karamesinis, is inspired by the music and songs of the great Nina Simone.
Bringing the life of this extraordinary artist to the stage, the narrative is based on extensive study and research of the rich material available about her—including interviews, books, films and her autobiography—and sheds light on the multifaceted portrait of a woman who never ceased to claim her right to freedom and to her own truth.
Her compelling story and music are performed and narrated by two versatile artists, Idra Kayne and Sasa Papalambrou, who guide us in exploring—or rediscovering—the figure of a woman who devoted her existence to music, justice, dignity, passion and the love of life itself.
