13TH FESTIVAL OF CHILDREN’S AND YOUTH CHOIRS: GOSPEL & SPIRITUAL BLEND

Organizer: THESSALONIKI CONCERT HALL
The Festival of Children’s and Youth Choirs of the Thessaloniki Concert Hall returns once again for its 13th edition, remaining true to its annual appointment with audiences. This year’s festival is dedicated to the most popular genre of choral music: gospel and spiritual.
This year’s guests are two leading figures in the field, who will introduce us to the improvisation, infectious rhythm and emotional uplift of gospel music. The children’s choir workshop will be led by conductor Don Grigg: born in Canada and based in France for over four decades, he is widely regarded as a leading authority in gospel in Europe, with a long-standing career in choral training and festival direction. American conductor André J. Thomas, perhaps the most authentic voice of the 21st-century African American choral and gospel music, will lead the youth choirs in a vibrant, movement-infused musical experience shaped by his distinctive artistic signature. All participating choirs will complement their performances with gospel and spiritual works in their repertoire!
