60TH DIMITRIA STELLA MICHAILIDOU / KOSTAS VOMVOLOS: ISADORA DUCK
Organizer: ALTERNATIVE STAGE OF THE NATIONAL OPERA IN COLLABORATION WITH THE THESSALONIKI CONCERT HALL, IN THE CONTEXT OF THE 60TH DIMITRIA
Musical for the whole family • New production
After the great success of its first performance at the Alternative Stage of the National Opera, the family musical Isadora Duck is presented at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, transforming the stage into a peculiar “Swan Lake”. The work, written and directed by Stella Michailidou and music by Kostas Vomvolos, is an ideal and entertaining introduction to the art of dance, aimed at young and old.
The heroine, the small duck Isadora Duck, with her beautiful and unique blue feathers, lives in Swan Lake and dreams of becoming a ballerina. The performance draws inspiration from the pioneer of modern dance, the “barefoot dancer” Isadora Duncan, but also from the classic fairy tale The Ugly Duckling by Hans Christian Andersen.
With the passion and will to dance at its core, the work speaks in a simple and sensitive way about important values, giving the audience a tender and at the same time tough adventure of self-discovery through music, dance and humour.
