TSSO AT THE CONCERT HALL

PRESENTATION OF TSSO’S NEW CD: ANOTHER DAWN

Organizer: THESSALONIKI STATE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA IN COLLABORATION WITH THE THESSALONIKI CONCERT HALL
In February 2025, the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra recorded for the first time with the renowned German label Berlin Classics, further strengthening its dynamic international discographic presence. With the album released worldwide in early 2026, the TSSO marks this occasion by performing live two of the works featured on it, under the direction of the highly experienced conductor Daniel Geiss, with the gifted young German violinist Tassilo Probst as soloist, with whom the recording was made.
Tassilo Probst, known for his versatile interpretations, outstanding virtuosity, emotional depth and captivating stage presence, performs demanding violin concertos by two 20th-century composers of Jewish heritage, the Russian Joseph Achron and the Austrian Erich Wolfgang Korngold. The programme concludes with the impressive Symphony from the New World by Antonín Dvořák.
J. Achron: Violin Concerto No. 3, Op. 72 (2nd movement)
                    (TSSO premiere)
Ε. W. Korngold: Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35
A. Dvořák: Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95, “Of the New World”
