THEATRE AT THE CONCERT HALL
“FAUSTA” BY BOST
Organizer: THESSALONIKI CONCERT HALL
Directed by Tasos Pyrgieris
Bost’s riotously funny Fausta—by the celebrated playwright, painter, visual artist, cartoonist and satirist—comes to the Emilios Riadis Hall for two performances, in an inventive production that brings the distinctive “Bost universe” vividly and delightfully to life on stage.
A surreal, verse drama that satirizes petty-bourgeois pretension through a playful fusion of pompous style and mock-scholarly misspelling, Fausta keeps its gaze fixed—almost prophetically—on the future. That is, on our present day. With wit and elegance, it exposes the very social pathologies that continue to shape our lives and from which we have yet to break free. The result is a theatrical experience that invites us to laugh at pseudo-knowledge, affected seriousness and entrenched cultural norms, in an atmosphere of festivity and delight, subversion and originality.
