Salvador Navarro studied in Valencia and Madrid (Spain), and Salzburg with Michael Hoetzel at the Mozarteum. He started his professional career at the age of 19 as principal horn of the Symphony Orchestra of Asturias (Spain).
Salvador Navarro has been the principal horn of the Spanish National Orchestra since 1984.
As a soloist Salvador Navarro has worked with many celebrated conductors, including Frübeck de Burgos, Josep Pons, Gustavo Dudamel, Zubin Metha and Simon Bychkov, among others.
Salvador Navarro has played the most important solo-repertoire of the classic and romantic period such as the horn concertos of Mozart, Haydn, Gliere, Strauss, Schumann. Salvador Navarro´s interest also lies in chamber music repertoire such as Mozart quintet, Poulenc sextet and contemporary composer Ligeti, Shoenberg and Hindemith.
His engagements in the field of teaching include a large experience as a Horn professor at many conservatoires in Spain and many Youth Orchestras: the Spanish National Youth Orchestra, Comunidad Valenciana Youth Orchestra, Murcia Youth Orchestra and Basque Country Youth Orchestra.
Salvador Navarro has been part of the jury at the prestigious Narbona and Toulon French Horn´s competitions.
He was also the first president of the Spanish French Horn Association.
