The Guangzhou Ballet

The Guangzhou Ballet Troupe was established in January 1994, which was a comprehensive reform pilot unit of professional art troupes organized by Guangzhou municipal government. Miss Zhang Dandan, a famous dancer, acts as the head and artistic director. Since its establishment, Guangzhou Ballet Troupe adhered to the development direction of various styles based on the classic ballet. In the aspect of art creation, not only did it introduce the world classical ballet masterpieces, it also rehearsed outstanding works of the contemporary choreographers at home and abroad. Meanwhile, it had made exploration and performance with a symbolic significance in the nationalization aspect of the ballet art. The troupe has 17 large dramas and over 70 middle & small programs. Guangzhou Ballet Troupe won 38 awards (9 Gold prizes) in international competitions and 156 awards (20 Gold prizes) in domestic competitions and artistic activities. The ballet Return on a Snowy Night won the “Wen Hua Award for Best Productions” incorporating all individual awards.
Guangzhou Ballet Troupe had ever been to more than 20 countries and regions for cultural exchange performances, such as Russia, UK, USA, Canada, France, Australia and Germany. Its performance on the European and American main stream platform caused a sensation in the local area with the appraisal of the mainstream audiences and media. It strives to make achievements in such aspects of international exchange, major cultural activities and enrichment of people’s spiritual life.
