Ludwig Afonso was born in Havana, Cuba and came to Miami, Florida when he was a little boy.
Ludwig moved to New York in 2003 and has performed with Giovanni Hidalgo, Joshua Redman, Spyro Gyra, Dave Valentin, Arturo Sandoval, and Mark Murphy. He is currently working with various artists in the New York area including Yosvany Terry, Manuel Valera, Eldar Djangirov and Richard Bona.
