Chorus Conductor
Carried out his music studies in Spain, Hungary and Germany as well as different seminars in Spain and throughout Europe with conductors such as J. Duiyck and J. Busto to become the conductor he is today.
In 2000 he founded the women’s group Vocalia Taldea with which he has accomplished important prizes and acknowledgements in contests like those of Tolosa, Cork, Maasmechelen, Arezzo or Tours, having also participated in different festivals and choral meetings all around Europe.
Basilio works as a teacher in the Municipal Conservatory of Leioa, from where he intensely promotes choral singing for youngsters. His choral school, with more than 150 members, has grown around the children’s choir Leioa Kantika Korala, which has been internationally recognized (Tolosa, Arezzo, Gorizia) on different occasions and is considered as a reference in the actual choral scene. Part of the school are also the young women’s choir La Kantoria and the mixed youth choir San Juan Bautista Abesbatza.
Astulez has received awards for best conduction in Gorizia and Tours and as head of his choirs he has gone on tours through Spain, Europe and America and has edited more than ten recordings.
He frecuently collaborates with different institutions and entities from all around the world giving courses and seminars on choral singing and as judge. Astulez has leaded ateliers for Corearte 2010, Barcelona (Spain), Europa Cantat Junior 2011, Parnü (Estonia), Setmana Cantant 2011, Tarragona (Spain), Festival Internacional Con Flor y Canto 2011, Cuernavaca (Mexico), Feniarco Choir Meeting 2012, Tuscany (Italy), Europa Cantat 2012, Torino (Italy) among others, as well as many national festivals and working sessions with Spanish choirs and regional federations.
