Professor of History at Columbia University, entitled: ‘Eighty Years On: Remembering Thessaloniki in 1943’

Tzvi Avni: Prayer (Tefillah) for string orchestra
L. Bernstein: Halil, Nocturne for flute and chamber orchestra
Almas tyernas y puras” - song for the Holocaust victims with lyrics by unknown writer and music from the aria “Ombra mai fu” of the opera “Serse” by G.F. Händel
J. Brahms: Symphony No.3 in F major, Op.90
The Thessaloniki Concert Hall and the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra participate in the memorial events of the “National Remembrance Day of the Greek Jewish Martyrs and Heroes of the Holocaust”, organized by the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki. The tribute concert includes Prayer for string orchestra, composed by the multi-award-winning Israeli composer Tzvi Avni, Nocturne for solo flute and chamber orchestra by Leonard Bernstein, Halil (which means flute in Jewish) and concludes with the passionate Symphony No.3 by Brahms.
