THEATRE AT THE CONCERT HALL
M. KARAGATSIS: THE GREAT CHIMERA
IN COOPERATION WITH THE PIRAEUS MUNICIPAL THEATRE
The Great Chimera by M. Karagatsis, directed by Dimitris Tarlow, was a significant landmark for Poreia theatre. A beloved novel was transformed with the decisive contribution of Stratis Paschalis into one of the greatest theatrical successes of recent decades. The theme of the “foreigner” who is desperately trying to be assimilated by a “wonderfully” inhospitable Greece leaves no one unmoved. After more than 300 shows before 100,000 audience members, Chimera, with a brand new set, is travelling to Thessaloniki, throughout Greece and the entire world. Thessaloniki Concert Hall is the ideal space for it to begin its great tour. The story of Marina Bare, attracted by the blinding light only to be consumed by it, will continue to remind us of how the concept of a utopia charms us, no matter the cost.
