The customary Easter Concert of the TSSO includes Mozart’s breathtaking Requiem, the great composer’s swansong, which has been the subject of numerous analyses regarding its indisputable value, as well as regarding the overall matter of its authenticity, as it is unknown whether or not he had a chance to complete it before his death. The programme also includes Mozart’s version of the Roman Catholic Church’s Eucharist Hymn, Ave Verum Corpus, as well as Dimitris Mitropoulos’ Burial, which, according to the composer, is “a prayer, a lament from deep within my own soul for Him that suffered for us, Him that everyone should love and adore!”.
