MARIUS PREDA: MISSION CIMBALOM
T.C.H. IN COOPERATION WITH THE 52nd DIMITRIA, CITY OF THESSALONIKI, DEPARTMENT OF CULTURE & TOURISM
Marius Preda was born in 1977. He comes from a family of musicians and at the age of 4 a random event would determine the rest of his life. A cymbal, a present from his grandmother, was an enormous toy that he fell in love with from the very first moment, and which compared with nothing in the world, no matter how many years passed. From then on, he never stopped practicing on the cymbal with the same passion and devotion.
In 1993 he was invited to the Netherlands, where he started studying the vibraphone at the jazz department of the Royal Conservatory of the Hague, from where he graduated with honours. With the skills that he accumulated over the years, he developed a new way of playing the cymbal, which made him the first skilled player of this unique instrument in the history of jazz music. As his career continued, he had the good luck of cooperating with some of the best-known figures in jazz.
Mission Cimbalom is a unique musical experience. With the participation of the crème de la crème of the jazz scene, including artists such as Arturos Sandoval, Mike Stern, Dennis Chambers, Tom Kennedy, Teymour Phell, Sanah Kadoura, Taco Gorter, Robin Koerts, Kiba Dachi, Mission Cimbalom is a lifelong ambition and dream for Marius Preda His goal is for audiences to become acquainted with this wonderful musical instrument that first appeared in Central Europe in 1897, while also to establish it as one of the most important instruments in jazz music.
