“Udopia is a multivibrant land. It is where once a flexible piece of ancient wood creaked and trickled harmony. This is the land where the Ud is utopian and rough. The Musical Land of Udopia, just like the cedar of the desert, is austere and scorched, while juices and scents vibrate beneath its bark, deeply within its sharp wood. The land’ musical phrases, as if carved on vibrating sand, are created and erased to be reborn into new forms.”
The whole of Udopia music (cd Carpe Diem, 2016) comprises compositions and orchestrations by Thymios Atzakas, except for two adaptations based on the music of Erik Satie and the Greek [Romios of Istanbul] composer and lyra performer Nikolakis [Nikolaki Efendi - Kemençeci].
