PETER BROOK: KING LEAR

T.C.H. - BRITISH COUNCIL - BRITISH EMBASSY
Recorded broadcast with Greek subtitles

Legendary theatre director Peter Brook directs his film adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic tragedy, King Lear.
King Lear (Paul Scofield) decides to divide his realm among his three daughters, depending on which will best express the depth of her love for him. When his daughter Cordelia refuses to flatter her father, King Lear is infuriated and divides the kingdom between her sisters, Goneril and Regan. But tragedy is not long in coming. Soon his two daughters betray his trust and the King, weakened and tired, descends into madness while his formerly powerful kingdom begins to crumble.
